EU food-safety alerts on Turkish nuts and dried fruit: the last 12 months

From 27 October 2025 to 27 October 2026, food authorities in the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), run by the European Commission, sent 306 notifications about dried figs, dried apricots, raisins, pistachios and hazelnuts from Türkiye. Dried figs account for 280 of them, 265 of those border rejections. Each notification concerns a specific product, usually one consignment or lot, and each is listed below with a link to its record.

A notification that names both mycotoxins counts in both columns; the rest name other hazards, such as pesticide residues, sulphites, Salmonella or a missing certificate. For dried figs, the busiest months were November 2025 (47), December 2025 (46), April 2026 (38).

Reading the numbers

A notification is about one product, not a producer or a whole crop. The public records do not name the Turkish exporter, and a product with many notifications can still be bought safely with the right specification and checks.
More checks find more problems. Border rejections come from checks at EU border control posts. Dried figs and pistachios from Türkiye are on the list of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793, so their consignments are sampled more often than products that are not listed.
The wording varies. Notifying countries write subjects in their own language. We sort them with keywords in several languages; read the lists below to check our sorting.

What this means for a buyer

Write the EU maximum levels for aflatoxins and ochratoxin A into the contract, and ask for analysis of the lot that ships by an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory. How we counted

We searched the public RASFF Window for notifications validated from 27 October 2025 to 27 October 2026, with Türkiye as country of origin, in the product categories "nuts, nut products and seeds" and "fruits and vegetables". We sorted them into products by the words in each subject, in English and the other languages notifying countries used. Apricot kernels are a different product and are left out. Products routed through Türkiye but grown elsewhere are not counted, because their origin is another country. We run this count again each month.
